“How could anyone take them (bloggers on free domains) seriously when they don’t even have their own website?”

Well, something like that. I don’t want to waste my time finding the comment and link it.

Surfing around PayPerPost, I encountered some sarcastic comments on bloggers using free hosting domains like Blogger. Not from PayPerPost itself, but fellow postie. I don’t want to call anyone names, so, I’ll politely refer them as ‘misinformed.’

Why am I bringing this up? My main blog is in Blogger. Of course it gets a little personal.

The reason is very clear isn’t it? Just take a look around, every nobody is starting their own website. Paid ones, mind you. Why? With the multitude of advices from blogging gurus, folks who has never blog one word in their life is committing themselves to paid hosts and paid links to start their blog. I won’t say all, but most of these folks are those who are waiting out the 90 days period to get their website approved and start paid posts. Or the very least, Adsense. What the heck, it’s worth it to them. They probably get back their full year hosting fee doing one month paid posts. Therefore, it’s good investment with guaranteed returns.

I write what is on my mind. From my perspective. I am not infallible. When touching sensitive issues like this, I always believe a little disclaimer is in order. Let’s get a few things straighten out before miscommunication led to something ugly. This post is not directed particularly at any individual. It is not supposed to be a personal attack. But, if you think I am talking about you and not happy about it, argue the facts. Leave the emotional stuffs out.

Eversince I started paid posts, I indiscrimately read as much sponsored posts from local to overseas bloggers. I’m not spying. I’m just interested how other people write. What makes their sponsored posts stand out above the rest. Their style and how they present it to their audience. Yes, I’ve learned a thing or two from real good ones. It’s no shame admitting we learn from the best and try to better ourselves. Agree? I’ll come back to that later.

I will be in utter bliss if I get a decent paying opp. Regular PR (2-4) blog like mine cannot be choosy. Of course I’m not saying regular ranked postees do not have choices. They do. I do. It’s a matter of choice if I want to go against my good judgment and write stupid opps or wait out to preserve my integrity. It’s not the best option on the table, but nevertheless there is option. I’m thankful for that.

Min PPP opp pays about USD5. Honestly, this is the only thing our low Malaysian currency rate work in our favor. Times 3.6, USD5 translate to about RM15. Which is pretty decent considering most low paying opps requires only 50-100 words. Plus some research, it’ll just come to about an hour’s worth of work. Better than waiting tables at McD. At my age, doing part-time at McD or anywhere else isn’t what I would call doing wonders to my self esteem. Not that I’m saying there’s anything wrong working part-time taking orders, it’s just something for personal reason I don’t relish.

Was checking PPP for opps when all my rants just poof into thin air. I got 2 votes from the advertisers. Now, now this is not exactly something to pop a bottle of champagne over, but heck I’ve done more for less.

Advertisers don’t exactly take time to give postees their vote. I don’t blame them. There’s so many freaking postees around. That is why all the reason for me to be in utter bliss. Honestly, I cannot say i don’t feel ecstatic when some advertiser is kind enough to give a vote. It just makes everything right. All the questions whether it is worth it to go through all the research and grammar check for a meagre 5 bucks are answered……

You bet. Damn, I’m so easy. So sue me.

Today one of my PPP post got rejected. In my moment of excitement for bagging an $8.50 deal, I forgot to insert an interim post between my last paid post. Stupid.

Come to think of it, I did not even thought of an interim post. The excitement of getting anything more than $5 is already overwhelming for a newbie. Yeah, sneer and look down all you want, that is what happened.

It was sad to lose that post not because it’s one of the better paying ones, I personally do like it. Damn, effort has been poured into it… my artistic touch. …. priceless. So, I’m not putting that post down though they are not going to pay me. I’ve decided it stays!

Well, good lesson to be learned. Interim post, Interim post and interim post.

I’m tempted to immediately write another one to redeem myself, but then, those $5 for 300 words offer is as seductive as me romping around in a bikini on the beach. Trust me, you don’t want to see that. Maybe I’ll just catch up on my beauty sleep and live to fight another day.
